The four-year-old Persistent was conceding lumps of weight to Gold Smoke when beaten over 2m4f here in July and the winner is now rated 102 having won subsequently so Joseph O'Brien's charge is looking well treated. His stable companion Unicorn landed a Downpatrick maiden before finding heavy going against him at Listowel while Timi Roli has also shown his best form on quicker ground. LION IN HIS HEART won a maiden at this meeting last year and, after a couple of poor runs over fences, bounced back with a fine run in a very tough Killarney handicap over timber. With his promising rider's claim a plus, he can see off the likes of Admiral Brian, who doesn't win often enough, and Carrigmoorna Matt, who looks better over further.
