In depth

Verdict

DER SPIELER has just one placed effort from seven starts over fences and has undoubtedly been disappointing. He's generally competed at a higher level than this and his overall form looks strong enough for him to finally get off the mark. Ainm Spartacus is another who would have been expected to do better over hurdles after a good start and he fell on his only effort over fences. He's still young enough to make his mark and should do better. Galloping Gander has been waiting for the better ground and he's jumped well enough in his four starts over fences to be considered while winning point-to-pointer Tailors Hill has showed a modicum of ability over hurdles.
