Kangarilla Road can beat The Leather Wedge, with Pulse, Ahgowangowan and Dunn Deal all worth a mention. The Leather Wedge's trail blazing tactics have served him in good stead this season, his latest victory coming at Catterick at the end of May. However, a closer inspection of that form reveals that Bob Johnson's charge now has nothing in hand of Kangarilla Road and Pulse who were third and fourth that day. In fact Kangarilla Road can now reoppose on 8lb better terms for barely more than half-a-length, and Pulse is 3lb better off now. Kangarilla Road is reported to have bled from the nose when coming from behind to finish third at Catterick 13 days ago, but is obviously fit enough to take his chance, and is back over his best trip. Added to that he is now able to race off a 4lb lower mark than when scoring over the course and distance three years ago, and with a high draw as well, Lynda Ramsden's inmate gets the nod over Pulse who will no doubt be in the shake-up. Of the rest, Ahgowangowan will help make the pace but is starting to rise up the weights, while Dunn Deal is very hard to win with, although consistent enough to warrant a place. The vote though goes to Kangarilla Road.
