Inspector Clouseau is marginally preferred to Beetuna, while Gala Casino Boy and Govenor Eliott are others to bear in mind as they are closely matched on what they have shown so far. And it will be noteworthy to see how the betting market reacts where they are concerned. Govenor Elliot was boisterous in the preliminaries before his debut at York a fortnight ago; which may have been a factor in him tiring near the finish. However, Mark Johnston's two-year-olds usually improve for a run, so a bold effort cannot be ruled out today. Gala Casino Boy, who finished second in that race on the Knavesmire, has a likeable attitude and can be fancied to find a race before too long. He will be interesting for a nursery and is one to keep in the notebook whatever happens. Beetuna is going the right way and caught the eye in defeat at York two weeks ago. The Bryan Smart-trained colt will be nowhere near the 50/1 odds that were available that day and he could easily justify any confidence if he has improved in the inventing period. However, Inspector Clouseau has been unfortunate enough to come up against some potentially smart individuals in each of his previous starts, which can only have helped with his education. This quicker ground will also be a help and, with the form of his latest start receiving a significant boost at Doncaster at the weekend, this son of Daylami should not be underestimated here.
