A hum-drum staying contest where Oops, Chevin and Sovereign State are likely to be at the head of the market and it is to John Coupland's runner that we turn. While Oops likes to be put out the front in his races, he is a proven stayer and off this lenient mark he can repay handsomely for a near miss at Yarmouth two weeks ago. Chevin is likely to be popular with the combination backers. Richard Fahey's charge has not stayed two miles here on a previous outing and with that blot on his formbook, he might be worth opposing. Soveriegn State probably needs two miles these days having been seen staying on at Musselburgh over thirteen furlongs. Simple Ideals is on a long losing run while Sherwood Forest is interestingly tried over two miles again after finishing second in an amateur riders race over the trip. Mercurious and Doctor John are old friends from the all-weather and are watched in the market. Oops gets the verdict in the fifth race of the evening.
