A weak maiden can go to Haedi who may have had excuses on his two runs to date and he gets the nod ahead of Alto Vertigo. The selection didn't act on the heavy ground when last seen and may well have needed the experience on his debut at Beverley. He certainly doesn't look to be a stable star and may not progress until next year, however he would not need to be a lot better than a plater to beat these. Alto Vertigo has finished second on both of his starts to date, however he has been easily brushed aside although he arguably sets the bench mark in regards to form. Van Ruymbeke was an expensive purchase but it appears that connections are not sure as to which is his best trip, so of more interest may be the unraced Thermidor, a 300,000 guineas son of Giant's Causeway. It is disconcerting that he is yet to see the racecourse at four years of age, however he would need to be no world beater to score today. At a price Flying Princess may go well with first-time blinkers applied, however Haedi is fancied to win at the third attempt.
