HORATIO CARTER probably chased too strong a pace last time and can return to winning ways here at the main expense of Violent Velocity and King's Point. As a three-year-old Horatio Carter gets 4lbs from his older rivals and as he seems to handle this ground well, this Bahamian Bounty gelding could return to winning ways. It would appear that he is nearing the ceiling of his ability when it comes to his handicap mark, however he might be able to squeeze in another victory. Chicken Soup returns from a three-month break but the yard are not in form, so of more interest may be Salingers Star. He has had over a year off but he handled some cut when winning his debut and he could be anything. Violent Velocity is just one of several course-and-distance winners, and John Quinn's son of Namid is a proven performer in desperate conditions. The form of his recent fourth behind Charlie Tipple would have been franked had the last-named been ridden out to the line recently at Redcar. Philip Robinson looks an interesting jockey booking for Michael Dods' Hiccups but the majority of his best runs have come on quicker ground and so for the winner we will plump for Horatio Carter.
