Great Chieftain and Bel Cantor have both shown enough ability to win a race of this nature but would need to step up on all known form to get the better of Royal Envoy, who gets the vote. The selection has improved with each start and made a highly satisfactory reappearance when chasing home Sir Michael Stoute's Purple Moon at Newbury. A reproduction of that effort should suffice for the Barry Hills-trained colt. George Moore's Grand Lodge filly Final Award has a decent pedigree but is likely to need the run, while Artie's Son is entitled to come on for his debut spin at Thirsk last month. Light Sentence is another worthy of a mention but Royal Envoy has an obvious chance and is hard to oppose.
