In depth

Verdict

Weekend Fling, He's A Humbug and Fourfoot Bay catch the eye here and Weekend Fling is taken to maintain Mark Johnston's return to form. Fourfoot Bay's breeding is conflicting, being by the pacy Elnadim, with stamina on the dam's side, being out of an Old Vic mare. He was not unfancied on his York debut in decent company, and kept on encouragingly to be fourth. He will come on for the run, but our feeling is that he will be seen to better effect over a longer trip. He's A Humbug is a son of Tagula and should have plenty of speed, and hails from a winning family on the dam's side. Trained by Kevin Ryan he commands respect as his two year olds have been in devastating form this season, and despite this being his debut, any market move should be heeded. The interestingly named Weekend Fling looks the one to be on though. He ran well on his debut at Pontefract, showing good pace to lead, and keeping on well when headed. An expensive purchase, his dam was a prolific winning sprinter in the USA, and he can prove too speedy for his rivals here. Weekend Fling is a confident selection.
