As Martin Pipe is responsible eight of the thirteen runners at the overnight stage it is safe to assume that the champion trainer will be disappointed if he does not add a further chunk of prize-money to his already impressive haul from this season. However, it is also safe to say that not one of his representatives would make an impact on the top twenty of his string of runners from this term and, daring as it may be, they are opposed with Greensmith Lane, who showed great tenacity when scoring at Wincanton earlier in the month. Forebearing hit form as the season progressed and is preferred over The Biker and Downtherefordancing as the best of Pipe's runners - although Penny Pictures is better than his form figures would suggest and is no forlorn hope to fill at least one of the places. However, Greensmith Lane has all the right credentials to make all his rivals work hard tonight and he has more than enough scope to brush aside his penalty here. Tom Best is another positive for the selection and his patience in the saddle is sure to be seen to good effect if everything goes well for Greensmith Lane.
