Another awful contest where GRAYSLAND ought to be able to follow up her Ffos Las success, while first-time blinkers may help Fantastic Fred to reduce the deficit he has to bridge from the Welsh track's opening night. The Bill Turner-trained selection ran on strongly that day to land a maiden hurdle over a similar trip. Conditions might perhaps be a bit on the quick side, but she won on good ground last time and it looks worth chancing her abilities on tonight's going. Admittedly she has plenty of weight on her back here but little else inspires. Fantastic Fred was well beaten at Ffos Las, but with a two stone pull at the weights today the headgear would not have to perform miracles for him to win, and he is much respected in context. Hill Cross makes the long trip south from Keith Reveley's Cleveland base and should be able to build on a reasonable Hexham debut and finish closer today. Takelli has already taken on the selection here, when neither were red hot, and Evan Williams applies the tongue strap for the first time tonight on the Marju colt, which may elicit improvement. A market check is advised where the chances of Miss Porky, Zepnove and Herecomesbella are all concerned, but we will stick with Graysland.
