LADIES BEST is taken to land the opener at the expense of Call At Midnight and Kings Riches. The selection was a 90 rated performer on the level for Brian Ellison before joining permit holder Gordon Edwards. Although he was beaten fair and square in a handicap last time out this looks like an easier opportunity for him and if recapturing his best flat form he could prove difficult to beat. Call At Midnight won a bumper on his first step onto a racecourse and although she is yet to get her head in front over hurdles she has performed well in defeat for her previous trainer Alan King. She was not discredited on her first start for new connections and is sure to finish in the first three with a clear round. Kings Riches has his debut over hurdles today having won a bumper on his racecourse debut. He failed to follow up with a penalty but with the Peter Bowen yard in such good order he deserves plenty of respect. Ladies Best has plenty of flat racing experience and should have too much speed for his rivals in the opener.
