Pirate Sam beat the luckless Hold Me Tight by nine lengths at Plumpton and is likely to be forcing the pace again. Richie Valentine has won twice over an extended 2m1f at Bangor and beat and Lost In Montmartre last week but stamina has yet to be proven over this far and he has a penalty to carry. Winning hurdler Mawlood started favourite on his chasing bow here in June so should be capable of better but that is also a comment that applies to REPRESENTING BOB. Too green to do himself justice last season over hurdles, he should be a vastly different proposition over fences.
