Verdict

This modest contest presents RAINCOAT with a good chance to get off the mark over hurdles. Izita Star could have more to offer, while Dip In The Med is hardly thrown in at the deep end for his racecourse debut and he is one to monitor carefully in the betting. The last named - owned by JP McManus - is stoutly-bred and can be expected to be fit and ready for his introduction. The five-year-old wouldn't need to be anything special to play a strong part today. Izeta Star showed ability in bumpers before running with credit in a couple of novice hurdles before Christmas. She is going the right way and, as the mares allowance will be a big help, the mount of Tom Scudamore looks a solid option to make the frame. However, Raincoat, who was second to Authorized in the 2007 Dante at York and later placed in a Group 3 at Goodwood, just makes a touch more appeal on this occasion. Now with Heather Dalton, the son of Barathea made a pleasing start over timber at Musselburgh 10 days ago and can play the leading role with a more determined effort this afternoon.
