The curtain comes down on events at Southwell with what should be a first win for Pirouettes, with Zagala and Beveller the only ones offered as able to put up any resistance. The daughter of Royal Applause had three runs as a juvenile, most notably behind Tante Rose at Newmarket last November, but only returned to the fray recently. Lining up at Thirsk on 6 September, John Gosden's filly looked fit enough in finishing fourth to Complication but should improve even more here. She does not have a great deal to beat in all honesty, and Zagala may be the one to give her most to do. She had a taste of the all-weather on her last outing but the fact that she is a danger reveals how poor this is. Beveller was flattered by his proximity to One Way Ticket at Warwick and is also not one to rely upon, so in what is not a race to get too heavily involved in, Pirouettes is the selection.
