Verdict

Bollin Derek showed enough here last time to suggest that he can take this ordinary handicap from Bob's Your Uncle, Penmara and Noble Edge. The selection comes from the in-form Tim Easterby yard, and acted well with a step up in trip here last time. That was on the fibresand, but this soft surface should not inconvenience and he is a tentative choice. Mark Tompkins is another trainer going well and he saddles Penmara. This trip should be spot on for him, and if he acts with cut then don't discount him. Bob's Your Uncle has the presence of Frankie Dettori in the plate and will probably start favourite after landing the odds at Windsor last time. He is an obvious threat if handling cut, off just a 1lb higher mark, while Noble Edge probably wants it quicker to be at his best, though is likely to once again run his race. Carlton Scroop won last time but has to prove he handles the ground, and so we take Bollin Derek to score.
