Paul Howling's Guildenstern has gone up 3lbs for his narrow defeat of Sovereignty at Kempton earlier this month and may struggle to follow up off his new mark in a contest that is taken to go to MACKINTOSH, who gets the verdict ahead of War And Peace. Jane Chapple-Hyam's gelding showed improved form when finding just the one too good at Lingfield last time and he has got to be respected on his Fibresand debut, although lack of experience of the surface is a concern. Kladester ran promisingly on his reappearance last month and has to be considered although more solid claims are probably held by Mel Brittain's Fulford, who has been running consistently well here of late but he has yet to prove that he stays seven furlongs. Paul Howling's Resplendent Nova has been running well in defeat of late and should be thereabouts again but a better bet looks to be Mackintosh. The four-year-old has yet to win a race but the Patrick Morris-trained gelding has gone close in his last two starts here over a mile and should not be inconvenienced by the furlong shorter trip today.
