Mick Easterby looks to have found a good opportunity for SHADOWS LENGTHEN to complete a hat-trick, while Mt Desert and Stormy Summer are others to consider. The selection won over course and distance earlier in the month and then followed up on Saturday at Wolverhampton. He now carries a potentially crushing double penalty, but he won with some authority last time and in this weak-looking handicap he can make it a treble. Mt Desert has not been seen since runner-up over two miles at Catterick in September of last year. He resumes racing from the same mark, but clearly has a bit to prove after the absence and dropped in trip so we'll oppose. Stormy Summer is 1lb higher than when runner-up in first-time blinkers over course and distance earlier in the month and if the headgear is as effective this time he should be capable of getting heavily involved. Red Wine would have won this doing handstands from this mark a few years ago, but he does appear to be on the wane and even though his mark for artificial surfaces is substantially lower than it is on turf he cannot be relied upon. Bosamcliff is 5lbs higher than when a soft ground Ayr winner at the end of last month, and though pedigree suggests that she might stay this far, she has that to prove. Charging Indian was well held from this mark last time but in this moderate company should get competitive, though we prefer the claims of Shadows Lengthen.
