Verdict

TAPER JEAN GIRL is comfortably the best off at the weights and can follow up her recent course and distance claimer win, while Lord Victor and Clear Ice look to be her strongest opponents. Clear Ice is 1lb higher than when running very well in defeat in handicap company last week, He was running on over 6f on that occasion and this step up to 7f is well worth a try, though he is 11lbs wrong with the selection compared to if they were meeting in a handicap. Lord Victor is not quite so badly treated, being 4lbs worse off, and he is stepped back up in trip again after finishing runner-up in a seller over 6f here last time. Miss Taken was not disgraced in the same race as Clear Ice last week and although she has no chance at the weights, she goes well here and might do better now back over this distance, so she would have frame claims. Better Be Blue looks capable of getting competitive, while Tealing is a very interesting runner. David Barron's gelding is progressing steadily and after just two runs is unexposed. If there is market support for him then it is likely to be significant, and Taper Jean Girl is just preferred. She clearly goes well here and races over her optimum trip, while she is the clear pick at the weights and gets the nod.
