This is a very competitive handicap, with Alpine Special, Peak Park and Newtonian all having strong claims, however we will take on chance with Box Builder. Hughie Morrison's eight-year-old hasn't raced for almost a year, but the trainer has no problems getting horses fit after a long lay off. He put in some excellent performances here last season, including a victory here over the two mile trip. He starts this campaign on a very fair mark and looks the one to be on. Alpine Special returned from a break to finish a gallant third behind Bubbling Fun last week. He should improve for the run and rates a big danger. Peak Park won well here last time and should be in the shake up again over this shorter trip. Meanwhile Newtonian cannot be easily dismissed having won smoothly over a mile and half here earlier this month. So all in all a very tricky event and Box Builder is a sporting selection.
