A test of stamina obviously suits Bill Brown, who is open to plenty of improvement and is selected in preference to Seeyaaj and Torkinking, who are expected to put up the most resistance. That said, Donovan could also go well if he runs up to his best and he is one to monitor in the betting market. However, there has to be the suspicion that he was flattered by his defeat of Crossbow Creek last month and, as he was held under a penalty last time, he has a little to prove in this stiffer company. Seeyaaj also looks up against it from the top of the weights and it will take a good effort from him to lead them home today. Seeyaaj ran a blinder on his first start for his new yard at Kelso, where he got off the mark for the season in good style. Still, his previous profile does not suggest that he is one to trust implicitly and he may well find one too good on these terms. Torkinking is going the right way and has to be respected. He arrives here on a hat trick bid and should make a bold bid. However, this is tougher than the race he won at Ayr and, from 10lb higher in the weights, he also has more to find. Therefore, it can be worth chancing Bill Brown at the likely prices, as he is far less exposed than the majority of his rivals and, as a proven performer on the ground, he has solid chance of defy his 7lb penalty in this company.
