Verdict

OPERA WRITER is given the vote to land this handicap with both Davenport and Robby Bobby worthy of consideration. The selection caught the eye finishing second at Nottingham when last seen in action last month. He has crept up in the weights for his back to back wins at Warwick earlier in the autumn but he still looks more than capable of winning races off his current all weather mark. He has won on this surface in the past albeit a couple of years ago and if recapturing his best form he has to go close. Davenport won off a five pound higher mark at this venue last winter so he has to be considered as a likely danger. He ran well enough when finishing third here last time out and therefore warrants respect. Robby Bobby showed promise in his first two runs as a two year old and was then given an unrealistic handicap rating of 89. He has proved he is not good enough to win off that mark and we feel he still has to come down a few more pounds before he can win. So for the winner we return to Opera Writer.
