Verdict

Brilliantrio gets the vote in an uninspiring opener, with Lemarate and Proprius others to consider. Hardly the best of races to get proceedings under way, but Brilliantrio has shaped fairly well of late in the context of this affair. Described as temperamental in the past by former trainer John O'Shea, she was claimed after landing a Thirsk seller and made an inauspicious start for Michael Chapman when pulled up over hurdles at Uttoxeter, reportedly with a breathing problem. However, of late she has shown enough to suggest that she can return to winning ways, notably when second to the much fancied Rosti over seven furlongs here the time before last. A creditable fourth over the same distance 12 days ago, the move back up to a mile will suit, and she has a leading chance in this company. Lemarate is still a maiden and has been tried over a variety of trips. The way he ran on over six furlongs last time suggests that he too will appreciate being upped in distance today. Proprius has been very disappointing so far but can only get better, along with Kenny The Truth. To cut a long story short, Brilliantrio looks the best of a moderate bunch.
