Verdict
Stevedore is given the nod ahead of Boundless Prospect and Shifty. The selection is not the most consistent of creatures but his form at Southwell is much better than elsewhere and with the Jim Boyle yard in decent nick at the moment, it could pay to take him at the expense of shorter priced rivals. Boundless Prospect has been disappointing of late although a mile looks his ideal trip and he can be expected to give a good account of himself here. Shifty has struck as a seven furlong specialist so the extra furlong is something of an imponderable as his previous victory around here over a mile came in a small field. Parkview Love has to be respected despite an absence from the track as his yard are more than capable of having them ready first time back. Maud's Cat has failed to build upon a fair effort in a Redcar maiden and will need to show improved form to win this. Akinola was a useful dual purpose horse in Ireland and can be expected to show considerably improved form than that shown on a first British effort. Danelor is a former winner over much further and has shown nothing of note of late so it could be worth avoiding him on this occasion. Stevedore looks the value in a tricky affair and we are prepared to put him up on the basis of the likely odds.
