Verdict

Wilmington is offered as the selection ahead of Autograph Hunter and Doonigan. With a rating of 71, Wilmington sets the standard at this level although he was disappointing at Brighton and there could be a cogent argument to suggest that he is flattered by that mark. The trip appears to be of little consequence and it would be difficult to envisage him having an easier assignment on paper than this. Mark Johnston saddles two runners in the race and Autograph Hunter appears the pick on jockey bookings. Well beaten on soft going at York on debut, the yard did win a similar contest on Saturday night at Wolverhampton so any support would be of serious interest. Doonigan looks as if a step up in trip might suit although he was notably easy to back on his starts thus far and he will be qualified for handicaps after today's race. Raise The Goblet has been unsighted in two appearances thus far while Hora may be better over further. Leprechaun's Gold is another who is likely to improve for further although the market is watched. An unmemorable maiden which could go the way of Wilmington.
