Local Poet can confirm recent form with Resplendent Prince and Hurricane Coast to claim the most competitive event on the card. The selection, trained by Ian Semple, gained a narrow win over course and distance three weeks ago when wearing blinkers for the first time rather than his normal cheekpieces. It enabled Semple to get some more improvement out of the former Brian McMahon runner. Also, Local Poet achieved a mark of 92 in his two-year-olds days, suggesting the current figure of 65 can be improved upon. Resplendent Prince carries a penalty for an emphatic selling win and, even though that was a low-grade affair, he will come here with his confidence on a high. Hurricane Coast looks competitive for a place based on recent form, although as mentioned, he has to improve to get past the selection, while Flint River is well-handicapped on his best Turf form of 2005. This trip could yet see some improvement from the reasonably-weighted My Gacho, and Penwell Hill is back to a winning Southwell mark, although all wins thus far have come at a mile. Finally, Out Of India's second to Speed Dial Harry was franked earlier in the week but, overall, we are happy toside with Local Poet.
