Spitting Image is fancied to continue her winning run at the expense of the improving Khanjar and veteran Victory Quest in this 1m6f contest. The 6-year-old selection has improved immeasurably since joining the yard of Mark Johnston in the summer. She is on an hat-trick following two recent wins over the two-mile course. The drop in distance is a worry - she takes time to warm to full throttle - but there is enough pace in the event to ensure her stamina comes to the fore. The destruction of Peak Park on her recent outing suggests a 6lb penalty won't be enough to stop her. Khanjar has shown progressive form since Karl Burke has decided to step him up in trip and a tenacious defeat of Yenaled over 1m4f on December 22 - headed inside the final furlong before coming again - showed his battling qualities. Burke steps Khanjar up another two furlongs and he looks the main danger to Spitting Image. His style of running, though - he is a driven front-runner - could play to the strengths of Spitting Image, especially with Victory Quest, another pacesetter, in the field. Come What July looks in the grip of the assessor, and Sun Hill's last run was very disappointing. Oldenway is closely handicapped on recent form with Khanjar but his stamina is suspect with the race likely to be run at a furious pace. So, Spitting Image is tipped to continue her winning run.
