Verdict

Little to split the principals in another close affair but the vote goes to Toulon Crest ahead of Amptina and Son Of A Gun. George Prodromou's charge remains a maiden and has been absent for almost four months but shaped promisingly when a close runner-up in a similar event at Market Rasen in July. The son of Toulon has been raised 4lb since but the booking of the talented conditional James Davies is a bonus and suggests a bold display is on the cards. Amptina is fairly treated on his Bangor success in August but recent efforts have been disappointing and he now has something to prove. Son Of A Gun was never travelling a yard at Warwick last time but has claims on the form of his placed effort over course and distance previously so can't be dismissed lightly but Toulon Crest appears to have the strongest credentials in an open event.
