Caroubier is out to get losses back and is taken to make amends here, with Repeat and Fortune Point selected to give him most to do. Caroubier is no stranger to success at Southwell, having won here three times in the past, but his latest victories have been on Turf at Salisbury, and more recently, over hurdles at Warwick in November. David Barron's charge has been a regular sight at Wolverhampton over the past month or so, and nearly managed to give weight away all round there a fortnight ago when his usual blinkers were replaced by a first-time visor. He carries 9st 5lb here but should be up to the task against this opposition, the best of whom may be Repeat. Gaye Kelleway's four-year-old is a bit inconsistent but has at least won a couple of sellers in the past, while Fortune Point bids for his first victory since July 2002. This dual-purpose performer has his first taste of the Southwell fibresand, and the market may tell if he is fancied. Caroubier should make no mistake this time though and is hard to ignore.
