Maunby Rocker confirmed his current well-being with a hard-fought success over hurdles at Catterick last month and is taken to make a winning return to the flat at the main expense of Shatin Hero and Mutarafaa. The last mentioned deserves to win a race of this nature having found just one too good in each of his last two starts, latterly when going down by just a short head to Rock Concert over course and distance. The four-year-old is entitled to be thereabouts again but faces a stiffer assignment off a 2lb higher mark today. Shatin Hero was well backed on his first start since leaving Linda Perratt over an inadequate seven furlongs at Wolverhampton last month and may do better back over a mile, while Goodbye Mr Bond is gradually slipping down the weights. Ersaal is another who has been given a chance by the handicapper but his best form is over further, a comment that also applies to Princess Grace, who also has a long absence to overcome. Maunby Rocker appears well treated off a mark just 3lbs higher than when scoring over course and distance in February. Relatively lightly raced since then, having been given a break until August, Pat Haslam's gelding battled well when scoring at Catterick last month and, if in the same mood back on the level, he looks the one to be on.
