Verdict
Kylkenny gets the nod over African Sahara, with Summer Charm, Tromp and Mi Odds just a few others to consider. Kylkenny is at the veteran stage now but showed that he still has what it takes when landing the Hamilton Park Apprentice Series Final in September. Successful here ten times in the past, he has had a three-month break and will line up fresh. Amazingly in 76 career starts, African Sahara has yet to visit Southwell, but he has been in good form of late and gets on well with today's pilot, so is another leading contender if handling the fibresand. Robert Winston rides Summer Charm for the first time, and as she has won two out of her three starts here, the Willie Jarvis-trained filly must not be discounted. Tromp seems better on a faster surface so it remains to be seen how he will perform, while Mi Odds has found one too good on each of his last two outings here but remains well handicapped on his best form. All can figure somewhere along the line, but Kylkenny knows this course well and is taken to add to his tally.
