Verdict

An implausibly tricky race for punters to puzzle through and Illusionary is the selection with Mr Fantozi and Pure Scandal put up as alternatives. Hailing from the family of Sir Percy, Illusionary was quickly tried three times over six furlongs before connections drew stumps on the juvenile campaign. If he has any degree of ability, the handicapper could have let him lightly off a mark of just 47. Mr Fantozi carries top weight all around. He wasn't sighted at Kempton on reappearance but is another who should handle the trip. Pure Scandal has beat just one home thus far. Related to middle distance types, he is watched in the market. Novestar was scheduled to race on Wednesday night so it remains to be seen as to whether he shows up. Persistent has had two pipe openers and shouldn't be too far away at this grade. Dance Easily would arguably be one of the lowest rated horses to be in the care of John Dunlop. Illusionary is the selection in a race where the term "unexposed" doesn't do the majority of these runners justice.
