Verdict

Musical Gift is the fancy in a weak contest, with La Musique, Desert Fury and Resplendent Prince others that can go well. Resplendent Prince goes well here and has bits and pieces of form that suggest he can give each-way backers a good run for their money. However, he also has his fair share of modest efforts and is too unpredictable to be forwarded with more than tepid confidence. Desert Fury has won three times over this c&d, so obviously comes into the reckoning as a horse for the course. This is his grade and it will come as no surprise if he brushes aside a series of modest efforts to go close tonight. A market move will be interesting. A similar comment applies to La Musique, who is less exposed than most. The four-year-old has endured a few training problems and is not the most straightforward of characters. But he can be a force in this company and he rates as another to seriously monitor. However, the pendulum of hope swings towards Musical Gift, who is a touch better than his latest effort at Kempton would have us believe. He is more suited to going left handed and he can register a long overdue first success at this course if John Egan can make sure all goes to plan for him this evening.
