Loulou Nivernais is selected ahead of Jodante and Brave Effect. Loulou Nivernais is owned by the Naughty Diesel Partnership and they probably uttered a few naughty words as their horse crashed out when seemingly having the race at his mercy at Kelso this month. It was a particularly heavy fall but if the horse shows no mental or physical effects - he has to be favourite to gain compensation. Jodante was always held in some regard by Peter Beaumont and is now with Richard Guest. He does have ability but he has known to be a little soft in a battle when the chips are down. Brave Effect has only won once in 35 starts. He is avoided after a poor run at the track last month. Little Flora does have winning form over course and distance. The mare is an infrequent winner and could be dangerous to all if granted a soft lead around this track. Humid Climate probably needs the ground a little faster so is readily discounted. Apadi appears to handle the surface and is watched in the market. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination but Loulou Nivernais should be up to the task.
