Verdict

He may not represent much in the way of value, but SILENT CLICHE is the one to beat in this opener and Caerlaverock is likely to be the one to give him most to do. The Howard Johnson-trained selection has been in top company for his last two starts, being well beaten on both of those occasions. However, that is perhaps an indicator as to how good connections feel that he could be, and he gets his conditions and favoured trip again today. This is a very weak race by comparison and he ought to be good enough. Caerlaverock should stay at least this far and will probably appreciate some softer ground today after being rushed off his feet on good at Ayr last time. Fitness should not be an issue and he is respected in this grade. It is very hard work to fancy any of the other quartet, though given his record at the track the John Wade-trained pair are worth a market check as a guide to confidence, but Silent Cliche is selected.
