Tim Vaughan's Magpie has to be respected now under a light looking load in this selling handicap hurdle and although Dennick also makes appeal after some encouraging efforts recently, we prefer the stronger looking from of STAR TENOR. The gelding ran a big race in defeat when nine pounds worse off in May and while he's only subsequently just held onto his form this looks a better assignment under a workable burden on ground he likes. Dennick is given a chance after finishing second best off this mark three starts ago and in the context of this race holds solid course and distance form. Magpie's recent best was in this grade when six pounds worse off so under his current load is weighted for a big run. Sands Of Barra has shown encouragement in two starts over timber and could improve to feature while Safin seems to be on an ok mark but would like things much softer under hoof. Not an easy race to judge and Star Tenor is just a percentage call.
