In depth

Verdict

Irish raider Hawthorn Prince might be worth chancing in a desperate contest. Michael Hourigan's seven-year-old is no world beater but did run better than of late in bumper company at Listowel recently and looks worth chancing in this company. He gets the TEAMtalk vote. This is Camair Crusader's grade and he has to be respected but is none to consistent. Beedulup, who has been running well of late appears to be in the grip of the handicapper now off a 17lb higher mark than when winning at Cartmel. Only Words is probably flattered by his proximity to Latensaani at Hexham two starts ago and a bigger danger to the selection may be the Richard Ford-trained Hello De Vauxbuin who reverts to hurdling having been frustrating over fences of late.
