Ravenscar has had another break since finishing tailed off on the Flat in October. Licit, a three-times winner on the level, hasn’t shown a great deal over hurdles so far and Misty Mani has probably been in the handicapper’s grip since completing a hat-trick at Market Rasen at the end of the summer. Maggie Barrett only won a maiden here in November and is 5lb higher now but Somewhat Cloudy should be approaching peak fitness and is preferred of the two Donald McCain runners. James Bowen has a good strike-rate riding for Stuart Crawford and POPPY ROSE only weakened approaching the last at Kelso last month – she has a quarter-mile less to cover here.
