In depth

Verdict

This is the best race on the card and all would have some sort of chance, including the returning Ask Paddy. Skipping On won four times last season and made a winning reappearance over hurdles here on Boxing Day. Henry's Joy got off the mark over fences at Musselburgh last month and Absolutely Dylan won over a shorter trip here in October and also over 2m7f at Haydock two runs ago. He wasn’t beaten far off this mark last time at Newcastle and has to go on the short-list. DR ROBIN still throws in the odd shocker but he’s generally consistent and a past course and distance winner. Peter Bowen’s yard is in the great form and he’s the only one to have made the trek up from Pembrokeshire this afternoon.
