In depth

Verdict

A hot ante-post favourite, Arkansas Derby winner OMAHA BEACH had enough pace to land a Grade 1 sprint here on his return from a six-month absence. Richard Mandella’s progressive colt should be spot on now and looks the one to beat stretching back out in distance. Improbable missed the break at Parx in September when fourth in the Pennsylvania Derby and may well reverse running with second-placed Mr. Money while Spun To Run finished behind the latter pair at Parx though has subsequently won. Coal Front will need to be at his very best back at this level having landed a Listed prize last time and Shadwell Mile runner-up Diamond Oops is preferred but Giant Expectations could only manage fifth in last year’s renewal. Jane Chapple-Hyam’s Ambassadorial and the Korean raider Blue Chipper look outclassed.
