New Jersey has improved with every run to date and Kevin Ryan's charge gets the nod to win again at the main expense of Major Easy and Lady Avenger. A game winner at York, the selection appeared to appreciate the juice in the ground and with conditions likely to be similar today, he looks worth siding with again. He looks sure to suit six furlongs in time and therefore he will be suited by Sandown's stiff finish which can find some horses out. Major Easy is yet to win but should go close once again as he has improved with each run so far. However he may not be seen to best effect until he has another winter on his back. Carleton, Lady Avenger and Sweepstake all showed plenty of ability when winning first time out. Lady Avenger's run was probably the most impressive visually but all have plenty of scope. Connections of Baytown Blaze have had plenty of fun for their two grand but the horse may just be outclassed, whilst Al Muheer and Bellatino will need to massively step up on their debuts. A toughie, and the market may well help guide, but we will side with New Jersey as the winner.
