Quite a few winners on show but the topweight is a maiden in the form of John Gosden's Nigel. Narrowly beaten the last twice, he's one of many taking the step-up to 1m6f for the first time and should go close if staying the additional yardage. Searching and The Tempest are others trying the trip for the first time too along with the unexposed OPERA LAD. The latter could be really interesting as he's only won a modest maiden but looks fairly treated for this handicap bow and Andrew Balding has wasted no time in increasing him a quarter of a mile in trip on each start. Diamond Joel has each-way claims having benefited for the rise in trip on recent starts and proved he can handle cut in the ground when a solid third at Doncaster in May. He is also the only distance winner in the line-up after scoring at Chester this month and could represent some value against less exposed sorts without experience at this trip.
