In depth

Verdict

Tranquil Tiger, Allegretto and Peppertree Lane are the three against the field here, with Tranquil Tiger taken to continue Henry Cecil's excellent recent run. Allegretto is an admirable type, showing good form over a mile and a half at Group level last season, winning this race last year, and finishing off with a game Group One success at Longchamp. She tok this race last season after a prep run, which she lacks here. That, and the weight concession to most of her rivals suggests she is best watched, though she handles this easier ground well. Peppertree Lane handles this ground well too, and he comes here after a great seasonal debut at Ascot where he was just touched off. He won on his second start last year, but is yet to prove himself at this level, and with the stable's runners not running at the top of their form, he is opposed. Tranquil Tiger is now a dual Listed winner, and advertised his well being with a terrific pillar to post success at Newbury. This is a step up in trip and distance, but he looks progressive, and the stable's runners are flying. Tranquil Tiger can score again.
