In depth

Verdict

Commanche Red came good again at Plumpton earlier this month but the headgear would need to work a second time and his jumping is still a little hit-and-miss. Thibault has won three times for Adam West and deserves a crack at a race like this. Scaramanga has gone up 5lb for a narrow win at Newbury but Bryan Carver claims back more than half of that while Dan Skelton has been booked for stable companion Solo, who began the season running in Grade 2 company. CASCOVA had only three rivals at Ascot but was an impressive winner. The third scored at Warwick on Thursday and Nicky Henderson’s novice can continue his upward curve by landing this ahead a fast-improving Floating Rock and the unexposed L'Homme Presse. Cervaro Mix hasn’t run since September but should be monitored ahead of another summer campaign.
