Verdict

The market should provide clues to stable expectations first time up but a chance is taken with RASCAL RECKNELL. Owen Burrows is enjoying a fine season in all respects and his 22 per cent strike rate is an accurate reflection of his shrewd placing of stable inmates. His son of Wootton Bassett can hopefully boost that tally further. Sir Michael Stoute has always regarded patience as a key virtue, but is also perfectly able to prepare one to oblige on debut and Reaching High, a son of Sea The Stars out of an Ascot Gold Cup winner trained by Sir Michael, is an interesting newcomer. Ralph Beckett has his string in tremendous form and it would be folly to exclude Skellet from calculations, whilst Royal Supremacy and Colorada Dancer are others who could play a part in what is a race for the future.
