MEZENAH jumps off the card here, and looks to have a solid chance of losing her maiden tag here, but if she continues her string of seconds, it could go the way of Shaaridh or Ghaneema. The Godolphin filly is the most experienced, and the only one with an official mark, which seems a fair one given that one of her runners up spots came behind subsequent dual Oaks' winner Sariska. We wouldn't be lumping on at too short a price though, given that she's already been turned over twice as an odds-on shot. However, the drop in class and trip should suit. Shaaridh has had a few months lay-off, and the drop in trip looks to be a smart move by Mark Johnston given the way she was collared late on when tried over a mile and a quarter at Pontefract. Ghaneema looks the pick of the debutantes; she cost half a million dollars two years ago, and the yard know how to get a first time winner. Short priced favourites have been ready winners of this contest on a regular basis down the years, and that trend could continue with Mezenah.
