Accompanist is taken to come good, with Gravinsky, Piety, and newcomers Red Gala and Mowazana taken to give a good account. Accompanist has had the misfortune to finish runner-up on each of his last three outings, but has not run badly, indeed he was fancied on each of his last two runs, at Haydock and Salisbury. He was not beaten far by former stablemate Sharpsburg at the Wiltshire track, and a similar effort here should suffice. Gravinsky finished two-and-a-half lengths behind the selection then and should strictly be held, although may appreciate the stiff finish and could get closer this time. Piety is worth a try on this better ground after just being touched off on soft going at Beverley, and she should make her presence felt as well. Red Gala is a half-brother to Red Bloom no less, while Mowazana is by Galileo out of a Nashwan mare, Taqreem, who herself is a half-sister to Irish St Leger winner Ibn Bey. Better will be expected from them in time, but on this occasion, the experience of Accompanist can prove decisive.
