In depth

Verdict

James Bethell's Mine has been in the form of his life of late with wins at Ascot in the Victoria Cup and Royal Hunt Cup in his last two starts but another 3lb rise may be enough to stop him completing a hat-trick and a chance is taken with Colisay, who is preferred to Camp Commander. The last mentioned lost no caste in defeat in the Hunt Cup last time and has to be respected but fairs best on a straight course, while Ace Of Hearts, from the in-form Chris Wall stable, comes here on a four timer following a half length success over Calcutta at Pontefract. The runner-up there is not the most consistent of performers though and he too looks worth taking on. Tahreeb is another coming here in good heart but this looks more competitive than the races that he has been winning of late and of more interest is Unshakable. The Bob Jones-trained five-year-old has been given a break since winning over course and distance in April and has to be respected off a 6lb higher mark. St Andrews is still relatively unexposed and is another worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Colisay. Alec Stewart's gelding should come on a bundle for his recent return following an absence of a year and, with the stable in form and Kieren Fallon booked Colisay looks worth a bet at decent odds.
