Verdict

Some interesting newcomers here including Qudraat and Encompass but Buckeye Wonder sets a decent standard and looks the one they all have to beat. The selection showed decent form in two starts as a juvenile and ran up to that form on his return behind Econium at Newmarket in April. An absence since is not of concern as trainer Michael Jarvis can produce his runners fit after a lay off and it will take a good one to beat the son of Silver Hawk. Peter Harris saddles two with Masterman Ready preferred over Charnwood Pride among his duo, although of greater interest is Chris Wall's Zangeal, who should appreciate what cut in the ground remains. The John Hills-trained Golden Island and father Barry's Shazana are others with experience worthy of a mention. Alec Stewart saddled Suhaad to win this on his debut five years ago so Qudraat has to be respected along with Henry Cecil's newcomer Encompass, who comes from a good family. However, Buckeye Wonder sets a decent standard and should be tough to beat.
