Monteverdi was very disappointing in the Britannia Stakes at Ascot but this is a lot easier and it would be no surprise to see the top weight play a prominent role. Another Boy left previous form behind when winning over course and distance under Patrick O'Donnell last month but is upped a couple of grades. Sir Roderic loves soft ground so goes on the short-list but Haydock second Albernathy is unproven on the surface and was well behind Monteverdi at York in May. Silk Cravat makes his handicap debut but LONDON PROTOCOL just failed to overhaul Destroyer here last month and is 2lb better off now. He will be better suited by today's going and is fancied to open his account for the season.
